Governor Ron DeSantis announced that Florida ๐ŸŒด is moving into Phase 3 of the state's reopening plan, opening the path for restaurants and other businesses to fully reopen.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Announced the begining of Phaise 3 today Friday 09 25 2020 as Bars and Restaurants may open back up after going through the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic Hoey Team eXp Realty

DeSantis today, Friday 25th made the announcement in St. Petersburg.

He said that the state is moving into Phase 3 which means that there will be no restrictions for restaurants to operate at minimum or 50 percent capacity or higher.

"What that means for restaurants is that there will not be limitations in the state of Florida," DeSantis said. "I think this will be very important to the industry."

The order also preempts local governments’ abilities to close businesses and assess fines on individuals.

It's unclear how much of the Phase 3 plan the governor is implementing right now. You can read more on Phase 3 of Florida's reopening plan here.

Gov. Ron DeSantis lifted all restrictions on restaurants and other businesses in Florida in a move to reopen the state’s economy.

The Republican governor’s move is sure to stoke debate in a politically crucial state, where the pandemic has become intertwined with the upcoming presidential election. DeSantis is a major ally of President Donald Trump.

DeSantis took the action even as he acknowledged that the crisis was far from over.

Since the state’s number of “cases” peaked in July, the number of new infections have steadily declined.

The crisis had prompted the governor to close bars and nightclubs, and restricted restaurants to take-out dining for months.  Amusement parks ground to a halt.

The closures battered the economy, leaving hundreds of thousands of Floridians unemployed.

DeSantis has slowly reopened the state for business since then, allowing restaurants and bars to reopen at half capacity, even as the pandemic continues to spread.

The governor’s announcement today, will allow restaurants across the state to immediately reopen at full capacity — and would bar cities and counties from ordering restaurants to close, unless they can justify a closure for economic or health reasons.
